MusicBrainz catalog integration
Integrated MusicBrainz catalog (127,000+ artists), ListenBrainz scrobbling, and a Telegram Mini App for mobile library access.
Challenge
Half the uploaded files had broken tags - "Track 01", "Unknown Artist", no artwork. Asking someone to manually tag 500 tracks is not realistic. Users also wanted mobile access, but a native app was out of budget.
Technical details
Solution
I integrated MusicBrainz - an open database with 127,000+ artists. On upload, the system extracts tags via music-metadata and searches the API: exact match by artist + album first, then fuzzy by track name, last resort - acoustic fingerprint via AcoustID. Artwork comes from Cover Art Archive. Added ListenBrainz API for scrobbling. For mobile, I built a Telegram Mini App on Vue 3 - Telegram auth, player, collection search. Runs right inside Telegram.
Result
Metadata auto-resolves for 85% of tracks. The catalog has 127,000+ artists with artwork. Telegram Mini App solved mobile access - listen to music right from Telegram, no separate app needed.
